\nTalking Art: Murals of the Lakeview Low-Line is a three-part virtual event series hosted by Friends of Lakeview and sponsored by AARP Chicago exploring public art in Lakeview. Held in August\, September\, and October of 2020\, each event in this series will touch on a different plaza of the Lakeview Low-Line and include focused conversations on how public art has transformed Lakeview. \;

\nThe second event in the series will focus on the transformation of Paulina Plaza\, where two murals\, five creative seating elements\, and countless programs funded by SSA 27 \;have contributed to the creation of a new community hub. Artist Lauren Asta and will speak on her work This is Lakeview\, and answer questions about her experience contributing to this unique project\, while Vanessa Sanchez\, Yollocalli Arts Reach Director \;will speak on the community involvement behind Flight Patterns. Join us \;on September 10 at 1 PM via Zoom for this virtual event to learn more about the creativity of Paulina Station! \;

\nAbout Lauren Asta
\n
\nLauren Asta is a traveling muralist and artist. She specializes in illustration\, oddity art\, doodle art\, street art and murals. Her murals are all hand painted without any aid of a sketch\, projector\, or traced outlined. She works completely free hand. Currently she is on a tour (#astaarttour) across the United States\, and beyond&hellip\; attacking any wall she can get her hands on (indoor and/or exterior).

\nAbout Yollocalli Arts Reach

\nYollocalli Arts Reach started in 1997 with the intention to address the educational needs of young people in the Pilsen community\, and to create opportunities for young artists to explore interests and uncover their artistic talents while learning about careers in the arts. Over the years we have grown into a platform where youth can learn from emerging artists\, collaborate with them in their art making practices\, as well as become active members of Chicago&rsquo\;s growing creative community.

\nIn 2011\, Yollocalli became an Arts Partner in Residence of the Chicago Park District at Barrett Park\, which unites artists and communities in Chicago&rsquo\;s parks. The field house was converted to a satellite art studio space\, helping revitalize the park and increase arts programming in Pilsen.
\n
\nIn the spring of 2013 Yollocalli expanded and relocated its main offices and studios to the Little Village neighborhood\, partnering with the Little Village Boys and Girls Club.
\n
\nYollocalli Arts Reach has created almost 50 murals spanning the Chicagoland area\, and participated in many city arts and cultural festivals.
