About Us

Nourishing Hope, formerly known as Lakeview Pantry, is a dynamic Chicago nonprofit providing food, mental wellness counseling and other social services, such as job and housing assistance, to our neighbors in need. Founded in 1970, we strive to serve the needs of the whole person — with respect and dignity, always.

Long known as one of the largest and longest-operating food pantries in Chicago, Nourishing Hope has evolved to become more than a solely a hunger relief organization. Our approach focuses on both meeting the immediate hunger needs of the people we serve and working on longer-term solutions to help them build for the future.

We do this through food assistance and social service programming for our neighbors throughout the city at multiple physical sites, as well as through an online market and home delivery program — both of which are growing to serve more people on the South and West Sides of the city. We also provide free mental health counseling with a growing team of licensed therapists.

Nourishing Hope serves tens of thousands of people each year, providing more than 4 million meals through our programs, in addition to partnerships with other community organizations. This year, more than 5,000 low-income neighbors will also receive case management and social services. Our volunteer team proudly oversees 3,500 active volunteers every year who support our mission across four locations in Chicago.

In May 2022, we rebranded as Nourishing Hope and opened a new centrally located headquarters to serve more people throughout the city.
