Shared Journeys in the Urban Wilds with Gavin Van Horn

Chicagoans inhabit a big city, a city that offers a unique window into the intersection of metropolitans and wildlife. Every day, we cross paths with countless animals, including coyotes, hawks, and white-tailed deer, whether we realize it or not. How do we live together in these urban wilds? Join animist, wanderer, and writer Gavin Van Horn to discover how our paths are crisscrossed by the tracks and flyways of various species. Through his unique approach to storytelling, Van Horn will weave myth with science, ecological loss with abundance, and reflect on the role wildlife can play in waking us to a shared sense of place and fate. The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Chicago Collections Consortium, and the Center for Humans and Nature are proud to host this reading and discussion. Doors open at 6pm, presentation starts at 6:30pm. A cash bar and refreshments will be available. Copies of Gavin’s latest book, "The Way of Coyote,” will also be available for purchase.
