Part-Time Seasonal Farmers Market Manager

Position Description

The Lakeview Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce seeks a part-time seasonal market manager for the
Low-Line Market and Roscoe Village Farmers Market. This position reports to the Engagement Manager
and will be tasked with on-site management of both markets. The pay for this position is $17/hour with a
maximum of 20 hours per week. The ideal candidate is passionate about the Lakeview Roscoe Village
neighborhood and is looking to gain experience in the event realm. This position will begin the week of
May 20th and will end on Friday, 10/18/2024.

Qualifications and Time Commitment
● Strong attention to detail & organization
● Ability to build relationships, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a diverse
group of people
● Passion for community events, sustainability & food justice
● At least one year of previous event experience preferred
● Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
● Available to work market hours, outdoor environment in adverse weather
● Must be able to work independently
● Technology proficient and timely response - email, text, and social media communication
● Low-Line Market runs every Tuesday beginning June 4 through October 8th. The Market hours
are from 3pm - 7pm with setup beginning at 1pm.
● Time commitment on Tuesday’s: 12:30pm -7:30pm
● Roscoe Village Farmers Market runs every Sunday beginning June 9th through October 13th. The
Market hours are 9am - 1pm with setup beginning at 8am.
● Time commitment for Sundays: 7:30am - 1:30pm
● Time commitment for Market prep during the week: 6-7 hours both virtual and in office
● Training for the Markets will begin the week of May 20th and will include on-site training with
Engagement Manager, Julie

Responsibilities
● Manage on-site operations on market days (Tuesdays and Sundays), including set up, tear down,
parking, farmer/vendor management, customer service
● Facilitate a positive market experience for vendors and shoppers
● Monitor and uphold market rules and guidelines
● Oversee volunteers, track metrics and LINK/SNAP
● Engage with attendees to educate about the chamber, sell neighborhood merchandise, and
gather feedback
● Manage on-site partners
● Communications
○ Manage the Lakeview Roscoe Village Chamber social media account day-of market,
including story posts and managing guest content
○ Assist in creating weekly newsletters
○ Assist in creating weekly social media posts

Schedule
This position will work seasonal and part-time between June-October from 7:30am-1:30 pm on Sundays
at Hamlin Park (3035 N Hoyne Ave, Chicago, IL 60618 ) and 12:30 pm-7:30 pm on Tuesdays (3410 N.
Southport Ave/at the Southport Brown Line Auxiliary Exit) from June 4- October 13, 2024. There will be
additional hours scheduled throughout the week which will be flexible. Training for this position will
begin the week of May 20th and the position will end on Friday, 10/18/2024.
