About Us

HandyBandi is a handyman company working across Chicago, and the chamber's two neighborhoods ask for two different kinds of work.

Lakeview is apartment country. Half of its housing sits in buildings of twenty units or more, and 46 percent of homes are studios or one-bedrooms. Jobs there are about fitting a life into a small space: a TV on a plaster or concrete wall, shelves and a closet system that use height instead of floor, furniture assembled in the unit because four in ten households have no car to haul it. In an elevator building the visit also runs through the management office, and we plan around freight elevator hours and building rules.

Roscoe Village is the opposite. Across North Center, the community area it sits in, more than half of homes are owner-occupied, one in four is a detached house, and half the housing went up before 1940. Here the list is longer and older: doors that have settled out of square, original trim worth saving, plaster that cracks along the same line every winter, a basement bathroom that needs fresh caulk.

In both neighborhoods one crew covers carpentry, drywall and painting, minor plumbing and appliance installation, so a list of several small jobs usually closes in a single visit. Every visit starts with a flat-rate quote, and that number is the invoice. Technicians are background-checked, and HandyBandi is bonded and insured, which most condo associations require before a contractor can work in the building.

We serve all of Chicago, plus Evanston, Skokie and Oak Park, seven days a week.
